This Fathers day I decided (after seeing multiple posts about it on Facebook) to book this newly offered cruise for my husband and myself.
Charleston Harbor tours & events offers boat tours, bus tours, day trips and private events. Even if you live in the Charleston area it is still enjoyable going on these tours. Each tour is different and you can learn new things about Charleston.
This cruise was two hours around the harbor and offered scrambled eggs, cheese grits, biscuits, bacon, sausage, fruit and yogurt and pastries. Coffee, orange and cranberry juice was offered included and a cash bar was available as well.
We arrived early and roamed the 3 floors of the ship after eating brunch. Each deck offers indoor and outdoor seating, level two is air conditioned. It was a terrific day for the cruise. Not too hot and there was hardly a cloud in the sky.
This tour went into the Charleston harbor and the captain pointed out the following sights as we went:
Fort Sumter: One of Charleston’s most popular landmarks, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired
Confederate and Union army Forts Moultrie and Johnson
USS Yorktown: the famous World War II “Fighting Lady”
St. Michael’s Church: A survivor of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, whose steeple was painted black so as not to be an easy target
Stately homes on the Battery: Symbols of Southern elegance and perseverance
Cooper River Bridges, including the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge: A state of the art span that accommodates the largest ships in the world
Dolphins skimming the surface of the water and pelicans diving for food
